Players at grade 2 – 5 level can enjoy music making for its own sake and also start to develop the skills needed within the Youth Orchestra. No audition is needed: ask your Tutor if they think you are ready to join.

Introducing Mary

I was born and bred in Taradale where I attended to primary school and learnt the recorder. My high school years were spent at Colenso, where I took up the flute and played in the school orchestra and the Youth Orchestra. After attending teachers college in Wellington I taught at Wainuiomata Intermediate, Havelock North Intermediate and Heretaunga Intermediate as a classroom teacher, before returning to HNI where I took up the position of part time music teacher. During those teaching years, I also taught the flute in many local schools as well as having a small private practice. Over the last years I have conducted the orchestra and symphonic band at HNI as well as the orchestra at the Hastings Christian School. I am very much looking forward to working with the TO this year in conjunction with Susan Melville and the YO.
